Despite its urban look, this route is largely rural, following the Huddersfield Narrow, the Ashton and the Peak Forest canals. Steep hills at the beginning and end of the ride mean that the lungs have to be brought into action. Between Mottram and Stalybridge there is a muddy and rocky bridleway to provide a bit of excitement and fun.
