Only one word can acurately describe this short new year ride - "COLD". At around -5 degrees C, the cold penetrated into the fingers with a vengence and the most welcome sight on the whole ride was Costa Coffee at Alderley Edge. After 30 minutes of thawing out, I was ready to cycle the few hundred metres to the station to catch the train.
